Interior decor is one of my passions, and once Drew and I got the news that we were approved for our new place, I got to work dreaming up each room. I started planning our bedroom first, because it was the biggest space with tons of empty walls to play around with. Using photoshop, I created a rough idea of what I wanted each room to look like, based on what we already had and what new items we were looking to purchase! Here was the plan for the bedroom…
The Plan

One of my favorite design “hacks” is a hanging lamp. For cramped apartments or dark spaces, adding a hanging lamp gives off light and takes up zero floor or tabletop space! I snagged these braided ropes + linen lamp shades from World Market. They’re super easy to install, just use these “swag hooks”…they attach to drywall and can hold up to 15 pounds! We were lucky enough to work with Plush Rugs for all of the rugs in our house! I’ve purchased from Plush Rugs in the past, and was obsessed with their selection. Plus their prices are unbeatable and shipping is super fast! I knew I wanted to use their site for the rugs in this house.
Since our bedroom was so big, we needed to fill the space with a king bed, which meant a huge rug to go underneath.
This is the 8310-500 rug in “denim blue” from the Trance collection by Dynamic Rugs. The 8 x 11 size we ordered is currently on sale and comes with a free rug pad! Click HERE to check it out.
For a bit of extra storage, we brought in side tables and a dresser…then I switched out all of the hardware to match our aesthetic! Changing drawer knobs, pulls and fixtures is an easy + affordable way to make a space feel customized to your taste.
We also added a “blanket ladder” to organize our extra throws and this cute basket from Anthropologie for all of Penny’s toys!
As you may have seen on my IG stories, this gorgeous gallery wall is from Framebridge! We worked with one of their designers to choose the best sizes and layout for our space, and I love the way it turned out.
How freaking rad is this wooden sunbeam art piece? It’s meant to be a headboard for a queen size bed, but we raised it up a bit so that we could actually see it. I love the idea of waking up with a “sunbeam” over our heads 🙂
Since we live by the beach, we wanted bedding that was lightweight and breathable, yet super soft. After buying + returning lots of blankets + shams, we opted for a gauze fabric. It feels like cotton but is way thinner and keeps us cool at night. LOVE!
Hope you guys enjoyed this breakdown of our new bedroom! Check back for full posts on the rest of the house coming soon 🙂 XO
