If you’re too busy to read this post to the end, here’s a spoiler alert : infrared sauna in my new obsession in health + wellness. As you may have seen on IG stories, I’ve been going to my local infrared sauna studio regularly! I’d heard a lot about infrared light therapy, and wanted to try it out…Perspire Sauna Studio was gracious enough to invite me to try it. After one session, I was hooked. Let me break it down for ya!
If you’ve even been in a steam room or standard sauna, you probably know the feeling of needing to get out and get some air after ten minutes. While I always loved how I felt after the steam room at my gym, I never felt quite relaxed during because the air was too thick and stuffy.
At my first sauna session, I was told I’d sit for forty minutes at anywhere from 120 to 158 degrees. Oh HELL no, I thought! I was sure I’d faint before the timer ran out, so I brought a friend to back me up. Turns out, after forty minutes was up, we didn’t want to leave! The air never felt thick or muggy, and we could easily adjust the lighting + temperature from a control pad in our room. We had gotten really invested in an episode of Gossip Girl and were feeling amazing. Each sauna has a built in sound system and access to cable and Netflix. You can watch TV while doing something good for your health!
HEALTH + WELLNESS BENEFITS
Speaking of health, let’s talk about the benefits of infrared sauna sessions. First things first, relaxation! Almost an hour of quiet time at the end of a long day? Yes please. The deep tissue heat also increases your circulation, which can purify your skin, boost your immunity and soothe sore muscles. Plus, gettin’ sweaty rids your body of those gross toxins we all come in contact with! Last but not least, each sauna uses chromotherapy, or colored lights, to really set the mood. No, literally. There are seven colors to choose from while you sauna, each with a different purpose. Lately, I’ve been basking in blue for calm and green for healing.
You can read all of the benefits on Perspire Sauna Studio’s site HERE.
I’ve been consistently sauna-ing for about a month now, and I’m feeling way more energized! Plus, I’m sleeping better and getting health benefits by simply sitting on my butt. I’ll take it 🙂
If you’re in the SoCal area, head into Perspire Sauna Studio and try it for yourself! They also have a location in Atlanta and one coming soon in my college town of Austin, Texas.
