Staying at Hamanasi Resort in Hopkins, Belize is the “living in a treehouse in the jungle” childhood daydream come to life. From bathing outside during a lightning storm to drinking out of coconuts straight from the tree, our time at Hamanasi Resort was truly magical.
Hamanasi was our first stop on a week long trip to Belize. After landing in Belize City, we made our way down winding, palm tree filled roads until we reached the coastal town of Hopkins. We arrived after sunset, so the streets were filled with a lively combination of locals + tourists, dancing under twinkling string lights. The pebble driveway leading into Hamanasi Resort took us from a bustling beach town to a lush jungle oasis in a matter of seconds.
After a long first day of travel, we sunk into the pristine beds waiting for us in our luxe treehouse room and fell asleep to the sound of crickets + frogs singing into the night.
This hotel is special because it seeks to be sustainable, and eco-friendly in everything they do. When construction began, they made sure to preserve as much natural rainforest as possible. Hamanasi built their resort amongst the trees, rather than cutting them down to make a classic beach resort. How rad is that?!
Waking up for our first morning at Hamanasi was surreal. In the light of day, and after a early morning rainstorm, the property was glistening! Our treehouse room was completely surrounded by rainforest, and the path to the pool + beach area was lined with hibiscus, banana trees + hanging vines.
FRESH FOOD
The main hall at Hamanasi includes a wrap around porch sitting area, a bar, a [ delicious ] restaurant and a gift shop! The food at Hamanasi was so so yummy. From fresh fruit juices at breakfast to seafood straight from their backyard, Hamanasi offered food options for every meal that anyone can enjoy.
They also went above + beyond to accommodate Lindsey, a friend of mine + vegan chef who came with us on the trip. She was blown away at the creativity + resourcefulness of the chef in making vegan dishes for every meal! While exploring the grounds, we found an onsite garden full of fresh fruits, veggies and herbs that are used in the kitchen everyday. We were lucky enough to meet the lead gardener and he let us taste fresh tomatoes from the greenhouse and cut down coconuts for us to drink from!
ACTIVITIES + ADVENTURE
What’s so cool about Hamanasi is that it’s located so close to both the reef + the rainforest, allowing you to see the best of Belize all from one spot. Plus the activities offered by Hamanasi’s adventure center leave straight from the hotel, meaning adventure is literally right outside your door!
If you’re able to pry yourself out of your room [ ours was so beautiful + peaceful, I never wanted to leave! ], you’ll find that the beach + pool areas have tons of fun activities + amenities. From hammocks + comfy beach chairs for relaxing, to corn hole + kayaks for some more active activity, Hamanasi has the setup. There are also bikes + paddle boards available, as well as an entire “adventure center” building dedicated to booking adventures like snorkeling, Mayan ruin tours + more. I really wish we had more time at Hamanasi, because the activities they offered looked so fun! Oh well, guess that just means I’ll have to come back again?!
Overall, our stay at Hamanasi was a dream. By the end of our stay, we were hugging the staff goodbye and giving one last snuggle to the local cats + dogs! We can’t thank them enough for treating us beyond well, and showing us their little slice of Belizean paradise.
