When we first arrived at Korakia Pensione, I thought I may have been hallucinating from a long, hot drive through the desert. The gorgeous white walls and blooming pink flowers seemed like a mirage among endless miles of sand and dust. Korakia Pensione is a magical little bed + breakfast tucked back a few blocks behind the main road running through Palm Springs, but it feels worlds away. The courtyards feel like a Moroccan bazaar, the pools like a resort in an Italian countryside. Each room [ which is more like a bungalow ] is different from the next, but one thing is the same throughout…no TVs, no hotel phones with flashing red lights. Instead, you’ll find a record player spinning a scratchy old Johnny Cash record, flowing white curtains and your own personal library of antique books.
After a day of swimming in the saltwater pool next to our room [ we stayed in the Mykonos bungalow ] and one of the best sleeps I’ve gotten in a long time, it was time for breakfast. Best part? It’s free! And delicious. I could get used to this whole bed + breakfast thing 🙂
If for some crazy reason you feel like leaving the heaven on earth that is Korakia, there are bikes parked in front for all guests to use. Depending on the schedule each week, Korakia also offers yoga classes and black + white movies projected onto the walls of the courtyard at night. There’s also a full library with both books and vinyls, in case you want to trade in Johnny Cash for somethin’ else!
Hanna and I are planning to head back to Korakia for a longer stay [ we only stayed one night this time ] in August, so I’ll be sure to update you guys with more details after that. In the meantime, tell me what you think of this Palm Springs bed + breakfast in the comments below! Xx
