Goooood mornin’ chickadees! I haven’t posted in a few days because I was down in Palm Springs shooting a few look books, but I’m home in LA getting back to business. This week I’m featuring KAANAS, a shoe brand designed and made by hand in Colombia. Two badass sisters from Colombia came to know the Wayuu tribe, a matriarchal [ girl power! ] society that’s been living in the Guajira Peninsula for hundreds of years. Liliana + Natalia were so inspired by the tribe’s use of textiles, they decided to create shoes using textiles sourced from local artisans. While the use of textiles is their signature design, KAANAS has expanded to leather sneakers, woven espadrilles and metallic leather sandals…the cutest shoes that you can feel good about wearing? Yes, please!
I’ve talked before about how important it is to know how and where our clothes are made, which is why I love KAANAS. Their suppliers and artisans have been friends and neighbors of Liliana + Natalia for years…it’s a true community effort, using local talent + materials to make KAANAS shoes both ethically and environmentally responsible! Keep scrollin’ for my favorite KAANAS shoe plus a $500 Target gift card giveaway!
