Something I’ve been doing more and more recently is asking where, how and why my clothes are made. Almost everything we do as human beings has a greater impact, including what we decide to hang in our closets! It may seem difficult to shop with intention, but there are so many brands out there with a mission to contribute to the greater good. One of my favorites at the moment is MATTER, a brand that pays tribute to culture by using heritage techniques and patterns while employing local artisans from rural areas of India. How cool is that?!
MATTER doesn’t churn out products from big factories, but rather works in collaboration with artisans on every single piece. Each MATTER piece can take six months to make, because they work with artisans to accommodate them during unforeseen events like weather, harvest cycles, religious festivities, etc. Their slow production process not only ensures a beautiful, well crafted product, but also a fair working environment for local artisans!
It’s a truly magical feeling to wear something with a story that you can feel connected to, even from halfway across the world. I’m beyond inspired by the work this brand is doing, and I feel honored to wear clothes that actually matter 🙂
In this post, I’m wearing the “Sideswept” Dhoti pant in one of MATTER’s classic prints, “Zalya”. What do you guys think about shopping with intention? Tell me in the comments below! Xx

Disclaimer : These photos were taken in full sunlight, which washes out the pants a bit! They are actually less white and more cream colored 🙂
