Happy almost weekend, chickadees! I’m finally sharing one of my favorite looks that I shot in Santa Barbara earlier this summer…a matchy matchy peach look by Tiare Hawaii and Lack of Color. I love when two pieces in your closet match perfectly with each other, but it can be tough to draw the line between items looking good together and being too “matchy matchy”. Keep scrollin’ for a few tips on how to match your look without over doing it. Have the best weekend, babes! Xx
IT’S EASIER TO MATCH COLORS THAN PATTERNS
I don’t want to say you can’t match patterns, because it’s totally possible and can look adorable if done right, but matching patterns (polka dots, animal prints, etc.) can come off as costume-y and over-the-top. When I’m going for a matching look, I usually try to match items that are the same color, or are in a similar color shade (earth tones, neutrals, pastels, etc.).
UTILIZE YOUR ACCESSORIES
Using accessories that match or coordinate with your look is a more subtle, stylish way to go than head-to-one of one pattern or color. Hats are my favorite for tying a look together, but a bag or shoes can work, too 🙂
INCORPORATE AN ITEM THAT DOESN’T MATCH
One way to avoid going over board with “matchy matchy” is to add an item(s) that doesn’t directly match with the rest of the look. For example, if you’re going for a white slip dress and a white straw hat, throw on some nude, brown or black shoes to break things up.
